Lendo minha sorte com tarô (O Tarô Zen, de Osho) / Reading my luck with tarot (The Osho Zen Tarot)

Fonte: Editora Cultrix

A primeira carta representa o aqui/agora, a segunda representa as influências do passado e a última seria a compreensão desse paradoxo.

The Osho Zen Tarot cards are self-knowledge oriented, focusing on the present and what we can do to live better and evolve. With different card layouts, it's possible to practice introspection, which can be something frightening, revealing, surprising, distressing, stimulating or tranquilizing... Or all at once.

I never believed in tarot or astrology or anything mystical, but I've always been fascinated by this world, either for its aesthetics or the curiosity it arouses in/for people.

One day, I was in a bookstore and went to look at the religion section. In the midst, I found The Osho Zen Tarot (pocket edition and the last one on the shelf!) and decided to buy it by impulse. Reading the booklet that came with the cards, I was fascinated by the images, symbologies and how they give a certain freedom to make the readings. I did some readings with a few people and the results were always intriguing.

Today I will do a pretty simple reading, called The Paradox. The first card represents here/now, the second are the past-life influences and the last one is the insight into the paradox. I won't go into details to explain about the colors and numbers of the cards, because I believe it won't interfere much to understand them.

The Dream

As I went through the 3 cards, I noticed that it has to do with my relationship with a man.

The Dream represents my here/now and, to sum up, my illusions about love and my partner. In a way, I have expectations that love can fulfill/satisfy me, and it's not his obligation to do this. My happiness depends on me and I cannot control the other so that he is the way I want or can meet my needs. True love doesn't come from dependence, but from our own development and maturity.

In my consciousness, I would say that I'm not dependent, but I know that a part of my unconscious ends up looking for him more than other people. The good thing is that both he and I are always talking not only about the relationship, but also about each other's personal progress and, as each of us have a psychologist, I think we are walking through a healthier path for our relationship.

Playfulness

Playfulness, representing my past-life influences, shows that, at some point, I was ready to welcome the new with open arms.

In 2020, I started talking to my psychologist about love relationships and how I had no interest until then. I tried to date some guys, but it didn't work out. I think I felt pressured and uncomfortable with them, in a way. The male friends I had were only online, but over time I drifted away from them too. I've probably hurt some men in the meantime and I'm already asking forgiveness for my sins. I wanted to change that and, I think with the pandemic/quarantine, I could risk online again. That's how I ended up meeting my boyfriend, we talked for several months on calls, played online, watched series, exchanged various memes and inside jokes. This certainly helped me to be less afraid of men and to be more comfortable to try a more serious relationship.

Basically, the "illusions" of my current relationship happened precisely because, one day, I was prepared to deal with men.

Past Lives

The last card, representing understanding for this paradox, is Past Lives, which precisely shows the importance of understanding the events of our life and recognizing possible patterns.

I believe that, as time goes by, I am a different person compared to 2 or 3 years ago. Together with my therapist, I can see patterns that influence certain habits that I have and, as I am aware of this, I can deal with them.

The explanation for the two cards comes precisely when I noticed that I didn't trust men because I never had a good experience with them (apart from my cousins and online friends, of course). During my childhood, boys bullied me and, when they realized that just bothering me wasn't doing much, they started saying that they "love" me, that I was "beautiful", "hottie", "the owner of my heart". They kept bugging me and pretending they liked me. Nowadays, I see how silly it was and my current self would try to play with their minds or try to have a non-violent conversation, but at the time it just made my low self esteem almost non-existent and because of that, I couldn't stay close to guys in real life, let alone having a relationship with them, regardless of whether it was meant to be just friendship or romance. I also had other uncomfortable moments with other men, but I think the main one was the bullying.

Today, maybe I try to control certain aspects of my relationship out of fear of what I went through. At the same time, I can deal better with this prejudice with men by having someone reliable by my side. I think that's why I end up being a little "dependent": because I feel comfortable to try.

As humans, we always try to put meaning to things and, therefore, we are so enchanted with tarot. The magic doesn't come from the cards, but from how we interpret them. I think that when I was in the bookstore, I impulsively bought The Osho Zen Tarot precisely because it was a fun tool to understand my own life.
